MGRC Pup of the Year 2009Regrettably, the Pup of the Year 2009 competition that was scheduled for 21st February 2010, has had to be postponed. Last year the MGRC committee considered cancelling the event completely, however there was a good number of people that had enquired about the show and it was decided to move the date and include it in our Open Show schedule. We had a generally positive response on the day of the Open Show regarding the inclusion of the PoY competition. Following this, the committee thought carefully about whether or not the PoY competition should go ahead as a separate even given last year's low response. The decision was made that the show would continue as a separate event, providing there was a sufficient number of entries. The committee had set a minimum entry requirement of 40 for the show to go ahead. Almost 80 invitations were sent out to the owners of eligible puppies, unfortunately only 35 entries were received. The committee decided to wait beyond the official closing date of the 3rd of February until the weekend of the 6th of February before making a final decision. Ultimately, the committee resolved that the competition would be postponed and will now be held at this year's Open Show on the 13th June 2010 (subject to Kennel Club permission). All participants have been notified in writing and a full refund issued. We appreciate that Pup of the Year has been regarded as an enjoyable social event but we do need the support for it to be successful. Joyce Ryder MGRC Secretary
